Every year my parents have a Labor Day weekend party and this year my cousins are coming to stay with us for the weekend. My parents have been stressing out about being able to get the house spotless before the big day. Since both of my parents work fulltime jobs, it is almost impossible for them to find time to clean the house. By the time they get home at the end of the night, cleaning is the last thing on their minds.
I thought it would be a nice surprise if they came home to an impeccable house after a long day at work. I figured if I was going to clean the house, I might as well go all out. I decided to put the affresh® product line to work and let me tell you, it was better than I could have imagined.
I started off with the affresh® Dishwasher cleaner because I knew the dishwashing cycle would be finished by the time I cleaned the rest of the house. As you can tell from the picture below, my dishwasher has never been so sparkling clean!
I then moved onto every cleaner’s worst enemy: the refrigerator. Once I emptied the entire refrigerator, I could see the leftover salsa and spaghetti sauce stuck onto the glass. I knew this was going to be one difficult challenge so I took out the affresh® Kitchen and Appliance Cleaner. I could not believe my eyes; the filth was coming off without any difficulties.
I thought I would take it to the next level and even empty out the drawers, which probably have not been cleaned since we first bought the refrigerator.
After defeating the refrigerator battle, I moved on to the cooktop which had splatter stains and water marks all over. I was really excited to try the affresh® Cooktop cleaner because I knew that my mom would be thrilled to have the cooktop look brand new.
Mid-cleaning, I was caught in the act! My parents had come home from work and the first thing my dad said was, “What are you making? That smells good!” Little did he know it was the affresh® cleaning products.
They were so pleased I had cleaned the kitchen and were also shocked at the results. My mom couldn’t get over how clean the cooktop got and my dad was equally impressed by the refrigerator drawers. Needless to say, our kitchen is especially prepared for this year’s Labor Day festivities.
I read this article in the New York Times several months ago called “The Mess I’m In.” I closely identified with this quote and have carried it around with me ever since as my life motto for my cleaning issues.
“I have a form of attention deficit disorder. I like to pay attention only to things I want to pay attention to, and cleaning my apartment does not fall into that category.”
When life gets crazy busy, my house undoubtedly gets crazy messy. I can always tell the state of my stress by the state of the pile on my couch, in my hallway, in my sink and everywhere else. Over the past month, it’s safe to say that I couldn’t even see the floor. This weekend it had to stop. I was having friends over, so I got down to business.
When I finally break down and clean, here’s my go to cleaning strategy:
- Clear out the entryway first. This helps me have a path from my door to my living room and feel like something is clean.
- I tackle the bathroom next because it’s quick and easy and gives me motivation to keep going when I see my sink and floors start to shine.
- Next I head to my living room/bedroom and begin to sort through the clutter. I pile up dirty clothes and clean/unused clothes in separate piles and hang/put everything away in its correct home. Now I’m getting somewhere.
- My next to last (and least favorite) stop is the kitchen. Dishes pile up like my clothes and I spend a good amount of time scrubbing pots and pans. I’ve already shared my love of the cooktop cleaner here (insert link) but the Kitchen & Appliance cleaner is my all-time go-to. It makes my countertops shine and my whole kitchen smell great.
- Once all the junk is gone, I get to the finishing touches, sweeping, vacuuming, polishing, dusting, until my whole apartment is spotless.
I always feel better, but I hate it the whole time through. However, even I have to admit that this week has been much happier knowing I’m walking into a clean apartment
A few weeks ago I worked at the affresh® IRONMAN 70.3 in Muncie, Indiana. It was a great event and I gained a whole new respect for the athletes I saw competing that day.
Since affresh® Washer cleaner helps remove odor causing residue, it was the perfect fit to be hanging out with sweaty athletes. In fact, the majority of competitors who visited our affresh® booth over that weekend commented on the fact that the smell of their sweaty workout clothes often lingers in their washers. But those that had tried affresh raved about the difference it made.
So naturally, we’re at it again. Affresh® Washer cleaner samples will be given to all of the participants of this month’s IRONMAN 70.3 Steelhead event. The IRONMAN 70.3 Steelhead is a qualifier for the 2013 IRONMAN World Championship 70.3 and will take place in Benton Harbor, Mich., on Aug. 19, 2012. The event includes a 1.2-mile swim in beautiful Lake Michigan and a 56-mile bike ride through northern Berrien and eastern Van Buren counties, known as the “fruit belt.” The race concludes with a 13.1-mile run through Michigan’s Harbor Shores’ Jack Nicklaus Golf Course and finishing at Jean Klock Park in Benton Harbor, MI.
As part of our constant battle of Athletes vs. Odor, all of the runners participating in the IRONMAN 70.3 Steelhead will receive sample packs of affresh® Washer cleaner in their triathlon bag. Affresh® Washer cleaner will keep their washer from developing odor-causing residue and buildup from sweat and other minerals.
Congratulations to all of the athletes competing in the IRONMAN 70.3 Steelhead and good luck!
